In the Garden of Death I found You
This self portrait is about my own rebirth and looking back at my life where I was challenged and tested on every level. Its the year I almost died from oxygen deprivation, I was in hospital for four days.
When I came out, I finished this canvas and honoured the path of my own life through the grief and death cycles in my life, looking at my reinvention and the many layers of this process. Four paintings are covered up over this canvas. It also liberated me from holding back on my truth. So much to share on this, I look forward to doing this with you all some time soon.

Identity speaks volumes in the face of a colonialist legacy
We are here in a world where I find myself constantly questioning my belonging. I am an immigrant in a country responsible for deep suffering through colonialism, and raising Afro-Latino-British sons therefore exploring simultaneously how we can be born in a place yet feel constantly searching for who we are.
I seek my roots and indigenous mixed heritage in Chile where I am originally from, and also in the land where I now find myself, immersing myself in sacred lands where ancestors left messages of love and of connection here in the UK.

The creative process is my expression of soul. It gives me such great joy. My life creating art completes the process which I experience daily alongside my self expression as a medicine woman and ceremonialist.

They are keepers of what I wanted to be the moon at first, but then became an egg, or both, the potent offering of new life.
The importance of representing spirituality with women of colour was huge for me during the creating of this painting.

Immersive encounters and sharing of our stories guide us to a place of compassion for ourselves, humanity, the earth, this is the beginning.
Medusa Rising
Medusa is hugely misinterpreted.
She is a powerful inspiring resilient force and here to give you strength.
To fully immerse yourself in her medicine you need to go deep into her story.
Raped and envied, she rose from pain and became her power eternally shining in the temple. of Athena. She is persecuted for trying to protect herself, sister Medusa, we are the leaders who lead with your strength.
She transforms the burdens and pain of women through history to RISE above all that has kept us small - up until now.
She is sometimes depicted with wings, and this was really important for me as I spent many months with her story, being empowered by her and transformed by her.
Integrity, Power, Beauty, Voice, Vision are all essential aspects of her divinity. Medusa Rising highlights the need to acknowledge the deep history of continued violence against women and open this issue up for discussion.
May she bring you much freedom.

We smudge to cleanse, purify, for ceremony and for grounding, connecting to the Earth, to Spirit and to Soul.
Out of My Mind
“Out of my mind I journey to soul
to meet the shadows and fragments
longing to transcend
the discomfort
of keeping within boundaries and limitations
and just after the greatest intensity
I RISE
and gasp the new breath
of REBIRTH”
Out of my mind is my exploration of the edges, perceptions and contours of mental illness, identity and Latinidad. Particularly experienced during anxiety in modern times.
Just within the greatest moments of exploring our shadow we find ourselves in the depths of torment and complete insecurity.
Beliefs around what we should think and feel create a boundary which rather than create safety, restricts us from true self expression which can ultimately liberate us.
And so it is within shamanic practice, that from a mainstream paradigm viewpoint, it looks completely out of control, and what is in fact happening is a process.
With mental illness there are extremes which can push us to the edge, and sometimes we don’t come back, what if we had the space to explore ourselves surrounded by support, a place where we don’t judge or measure failure and success or expectations, a place where we listen to our voice within, the one that is there from a place of love.
